Short biography
Catherine Allégret is the daughter of actress Simone Signoret and director Yves Allégret. She was raised by her mother and her second husband Yves Montand.  She made her theater debut in the Pirandello play "Tonight We Improvise," and her movie career began in 1965 with the film "Lady L." In 2004, she published an autobiography entitled A World Upside Down (Un monde à l'envers) in which she contended that her stepfather had sexually abused her from the age of 5. Her son made similar allegations in his own book published the same year.
