Patricia Anawalt completed her Ph.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1975. She serves as Consulting curator of Costumes and Textiles for the UCLA Museum of Cultural History. Her research involves the clothing of pre-Hispanic Mesoamerica, colonial costume change and the dress of the modern Indians of Middle America. Anawalt is the author of numerous articles on pre-Conquest dress and colonial costume change as well as the book, Costumes from the Codices: Mesoamerican Indian Clothing Before Cortes. She has been a lecturer for the AIA Traveling Lecture Program for five years.
