This book is the catalog from the American Folk Art Museum's 2011 exhibition Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts . The 653 quilts, all in red and white, are from the collection of Joanna S. Rose. The exhibition was a gift from her husband for her 80th birthday, and it was free to the public.

No patterns; this book is packed with photos of over 650 gorgeous red and white quilts, individually and as they appeared in the exhibition. Many photos are full page; the others are printed 4 per page.

Also included are articles on the collector's viewpoint, a history of red and white quilts, and the story of how the exhibition came together.

If you are looking for a quilting book with patterns and instructions, this is not the book for you. But if you are looking for inspiration and ideas, this is a very good one to acquire. There are some gorgeous quilts, all in color - all from the collection of the American Folk Art Museum. Photographs are arranged in chapters by quilt type, i.e. log cabin, appliqué, Amish, etc. Dates, location and sizes are provided. Can be called a "coffee table book" but the quilts are gorgeous.
