The author follows the journey of a Bull Moose calf, Deneki, through his first year of life. This factual book describes meeting the other animals in the wilderness and the flora he browses upon. The moose calf learns about the various seasons all through detailed sketches of the animals and plants he encounters. The story is set in the Denali National Park and gives the reader and accurate representation of the upbringing of a calf during the first year.
