“For revelations of the secret doctrines used to achieve the plunder of the entire world; for clues as to a means of escaping the ‘invisible depression’ of today, and for spine-tingling thrills beyond your most sensational experiences, send for a copy of HIDE! today!”

With these thrilling words, Herb Blackschleger tempts the reader to purchase his masterpiece of weird writing, "HIDE!" Impossible to categorize, it combines paranoia, conspiracy theories of every kind, alternative science and history, and simple sheer insanity into one remarkable narrative.
Did you know, for instance, that “for thousands of years, the civilizations of the world have been plundered by suppression of knowledge… the civilizations of Lemuria and Atlantis flourished some 30,000 years ago; their teachings have survived…and are currently available as THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS.” (Like many paranoid writers, Herb is fond of using all capital letters.)
The same power brokers behind suppression of the truth of Atlantean culture also turn out to be behind the problems Herb has with his Ford Edsel (five pages chronicle the car’s many problems, and included are copies of the many unintentionally hilarious letters he sent to the Ford Motor Company), as well as the masterminds behind a plot to poison American citizens with fluoride in the water: “I know fluoridation to be a very secret…revolutionary technique to deaden our minds, slow our reflexes, and GRADUALLY KILL OUR WILL TO RESIST AGGRESSION.” To find out what all this has to do with socialism, atomic war, bodily functions, reincarnation, farm subsidies, and many, many more things, you’ll have to read the book.
