Heidi is a sustainable landscape design and maintenance consultant and a Certified Arborist with expertise in landscape maintenance, horticulture, native Hawaiian plants, xeriscaping, and historic trees. She is Director Emeritus of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens. Heidi's column "Hawai'i Gardens" runs Fridays in The Honolulu Advertiser, and she has a weekly television feature, "The Morning Garden," on KITV-4. She is the author of the book Growing Native Hawaiian Plants.
