Daughter of Moloka'i by Alan Brennert

A sequel to the authors book Molokai
This tell the story of the daughter Rachael has to give up because she had leprosy. Same number of tear jerker moments in in excellent, quick, well told story.

Molokaʻi by Alan Brennert

I had already read Song of the Exile by Kiana Davenport so much of this was a repeat but the fictional characters stories were very well developed.
Overall a great book.

Honolulu by Alan Brennert

I was familiar with the author as I had read Palisades Park, but I did not read Molokai as I had read two other books that were very similar explaining in detail life in the leper colony.
I shoe away from Honolulu for the same reasons but completely different books and believed I knew the history of Hawaii and the disgraceful treatment of all foreigners and often worse the treatment of native Hawaiians by the U S Government and the white population of Hawaii. This book was on sale and so I bought it anyway.
So glad I did. Excellent story about Korean picture brides making their way in Hawaii. And about what Hawaii was actually like from 1912-1930’s.… (more)
