This book is a a great read for kids because it talks about issues currently facing the African American community. There is also representation of a strong friendship,as one tries to honor his friend's memory by joining the basketball team. Will he be able to make the team or is there another position that suits him better?? Children will be able to read literature that deals with math, has kids that look like them, and face problems relevant to their lives.
