In 1953, Brig. Caunter founded the Shark Angling Club of Great Britain and became its first chairman - an office which he still holds. He has fished all over the British Isles and in the Middle East and holds numerous angling records. Until 1950, he was credited with the record British rod-and-line caught shark.
