The book is organized into categories that makes referencing the content easier. There is a lot of information from simple problem solving to simple history. A good reference book to have in a classroom collection for students to use when needed.
I had an issue with one part of the book. On page 114, there is a multiplication problem listed where you have to solve for x. Well one side of the equation dealt with order of operations with 10 x 2 + 1. The explanation in the book states that mathematicians would use parenthesis to make it more clear and add the parenthesis around the 2 + 1, so you would solve that first. The original problem had no parenthesis, and it is taught early on in middle school to apply rules of order of operations. The information in this particular section is very misleading. Aside from that, the other information seemed to flow just fine, but with finding this, I would definitely read the book in its entirety before adding it to my collection.… (more)
