- Short biography
- Stewart Granger, born James Stewart in London, England, changed his name to avoid confusion with the American actor James Stewart. Tall, dark, handsome and debonair, he became one of the greatest British stars of the 1940s and went on to achieve international film stardom. In Hollywood, he was one of the greatest swashbucklers, doing many of his own stunts in movies such as Scaramouche (1952) and The Prisoner of Zenda (1952). He published his autobiography, Sparks Fly Upward, in 1981.
