Join Kate Greenstreet and Emily Kendal Frey as the read at Village Books from their new collections of poetry. In Kate Greenstreet's new book, Young Tambling, she explores what it means to be human, to need to feel, to make art. Memory, in this book of “experimental memoir,” works something like the narrative tactics of a traditional ballad, “alternate leaping and lingering,” in one formulation. In Young Tambling, a life’s meaning is born of its poet’s song, and a memory cannot reveal its truth until it finds its ballad. Greenstreet has also published The Last 4 Things, and her poetry can be found in Colorado Review, Boston Review, Volt, Fence, Chicago Review, and other journals.
Emily Kendal Frey's new book, The Grief Performance, won the 2012 Norma Farber Award from the Poetry Society of America. She writes about grief and dread in a unique and artful light. Frey is the author of the chapbooks Airport, Frances, and The New Planet, as well as three chapbook collaborations. She lives in Portland, Oregon.
Village Books will soon carry copies of Kate and Emily's books.
