Short biography
Barbarina Charlotte Sullivan was the daughter of an Anglo-Irish clergyman, Rev. Frederick Sullivan, and his wife Arabella Jane Wilmot. She appears to have been named in honor of her maternal grandmother, Barbarina Brand, Lady Dacre, née Ogle, a well-known poet, playwright, and translator. In 1846, she married Sir Frederick William Grey (later Admiral) and became Lady Grey. She served as president of the Girls' Friendly Society from 1883 to 1889. She was the co-author with her sister Gertrude Sullivan Lyster of a Sullivan family history called A Family Chronicle.
