Patricia Browning Griffith has written several novels, including The Future Is Not What It Used to Be (1970), Tennessee Blue (1981), and The World Around Midnight (1991). She has written freelance articles for Harper's, Paris Review, Washingtonian, Texas Observer, and Colorado. Griffith is also a show more playwright. Outside Waco premiered in 1984 at Theater Three in Dallas, Texas, and was produced off-Broadway in 1985 at Hudson Guild Theatre. Another play, Safety, premiered in Dallas in 1987. Patricia Griffith was born November 9, 1935 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a news reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegraph and received her B.A. at Baylor University. In 1978 she was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts literary fellowship. Griffith has taught fiction writing at George Washington University and Goucher College.
