Big colourful book - but still with enough academic punch to be useful

Gorgeous though by no means subtle work intended chiefly for export from Meiji Japan to the west. Useful for me chiefly because some of it depicts episodes from early Japanese myth (e.g. So-san-no-o)
"A fully illustrated catalogue of a hundred swords and their fittings that accompanied an exhibition at the British Museum from October 2004 to March 2005." And I lost an entire day of my life to that great exhibition.
