Echo Heron received her nursing degree in 1977 and for the past ten years has practiced as a registered nurse, a certified mobile intensive care nurse, and a volunteer rescue flight nurse. She works simultaneously in the emergency roo, and the coronary care unit of a major San Francisco Bay Area hospital. Brought up in Scotia, New York, Ms. Heron currently lives in Mill Valley California. [from Intensive Care: the Story of a Nurse, 1987]. Ms. Heron has since gone on to be an advocate for health issues and nurses, and to work as a speaker.
