OK...so we meet Jay. Chapter 1, page 1 (3% on kindle) has us learning right away that Ted cheated on Jay and they broke up. 6% in has us learning about how they met, with lots of sex details (don't get me wrong...I don't mind that in my books at all, but Ted is the EX not the one we are supposed to care about).

Chapters 2, 3, and 4, we then get a full detail of every year they were together (which was 3). No joke. 57% of the book in and I am still learning about the ex and how "great" things were with them until all of a sudden they weren't. Chapter 5 is the break up and jerkiness of Ted and Robert in the fullest.

At 67% into the book, we FINALLY meet Tony, who turns out to be the new awesome guy. For those who don't like or prefer math, 67% into the book means it is 2/3 over. For a 62 page book, that means we spent approximately 42 pages on fluff before we even met Tony! Yes, some of the relationship is important. Yes, we should know that Ted cheated, and perhaps some details of it are necessary. But this book is titled Starting Over, which to me would imply that it would focus on Jay and his NEW guy that he is starting over with.

So, we meet him around page 42. We get details of them meeting, they have 1 night together, and then they are apart. Then we get MORE TED!!! Seriously??? No, really???? UGH!!!

So when do Jay and Tony finally get together? AT 90%!!!!!! Yes. Approximately 6 pages from the end. You read that right. We get 6 pages of them having a little sex, deciding to be together forever, AND get an epilogue from 12 YEARS LATER. 6 pages to describe 12 years with the love of his live, yet we spend approximately 50 on an epic douche.

I can't even. I had hopes for this book. It could've been much better if it actually focused on the relationship with Tony instead of all of the stupid shit with Ted. Yes, the cheating sucked and broke Jay's heart, but why do I care that Ted got played? Why do I care at all about him? I wanted to read about Jay and his happiness, and that was glossed over. If the author really wanted to add all of the information about the ex, there should have been more development of Tony and Jay after. I really feel like 67% of the book is too much to dedicate to back story when we are going somewhere completely different as an actual title. Don't rush the ending.
