- Margaret L'Anson Horder (1903-1978) was an Australian children's book illustrator. Born in Sydney in 1903, she was educated at the Sydney Art School. She lived and worked in London during the 1930s and 1940s, illustrating many children's books for Oxford University Press. In 1950 Margaret Horder and her husband Arthur Freeman moved back to Sydney, and Horder continued with her career, illustrating some notable Australian authors, from Joan Phipson to Patricia Wrightson. From 1958-1969 she illustrated the NSW School Magazine, and she established the Blue Wren Books series for the publisher Angus & Robertson. She and her husband were active in the Children's Book Council of Australia and she designed the Book of the Year Award medal. Margaret Horder and her husband lived in Palma Majorca from late 1973. They returned to Sydney in 1977, the year before Margaret's death.
