I've been struggling to finish this, on and off, for about five years now. It seems as if there should be a good story in there, but the (translated) text is a nightmare to plough through, and I have now given up entirely. To Oxfam it goes!
This book starts as an entertaining page turner, but it gets tedious. It is frankly too long for the subject matter. It is imaginative, sometimes novel, and the characters are well thought through, but as a children's book, I have to wonder how many of its intended audience will turn the 637th (reasonably cramped) page.
I am so glad that I found this book, because it is really great. I agree with one of the reviews that more books should be translated because this is like... the Sandman (Neil Gaiman) of fantasy. 600 pages of pure imagination and fun!

Liked the idea about learning to alter the world around you, dependent on what your own talent is.
Yes it is a bit long for the amount of 'storyline', but I found it very enjoyable. Children/young adults may struggle with the length. I did not.… (more)
