A native of Arkansas, Dr. Thomas C. Izard taught many years before entering Columbia College, both at the Massey School, Pulaski, Tennessee, where he was headmaster, and at Greene University School, Athens, Alabama. In 1925, at the age of 32, he entered Columbia College with advanced standing, and earned his bachelor's degree in 1928. In 1929, he earned his M.A. and in 1942, his Ph.D. degree, both at Columbia.
