Simonne Jacquemard was born in Paris and grew up in the Baie de Somme region. Her first career was as a dancer. She began to devote herself to writing in 1945, publishing poems and then novels. In 1955, she married writer Jacques Brosse. Despite acclaim from literary critics, Simonne Jacquemard's work remains relatively unknown outside France.
