Title: Double Header
Author: Clarice G. James

Year: 2015
Publisher: Mountainview Books
My rating is 5+ stars.
The more I read the more I begin to appreciate the ability authors have to share a good story with their audience. One characteristic that can easily be observed in real life happening in families with more than one child is how various attitudes as well as behaviors are exhibited. Sometimes when the offspring exhibit one or the other parental traits most can laugh and say that it was just like Dad or just like Mom. For instance, our firstborn tends to be like me in that he has learned to overcome personal obstacles and instead allows them to strengthen him. Our second born son shows he is like his Dad in that he is more of a homebody and loves movies.
In the book, those types of things and more characterize the two siblings both now grown and married. After their father died a couple of years later, their mother remarried. As their life was going along, one day Casey receives a letter that changes everything. Both her and her brother Griffin must face something they never knew about their father. What throws Casey’s emotions, thoughts and heart is learning to face the reality of the truth while Griffin doesn’t go through such turmoil.
Both siblings grew up loving the Boston Red Sox and still do some side work they started that keeps them close to the baseball organization. Now Casey is looking for the peace it seems many of her family members have except for her and she needs it as she works through the broken pieces of her heart.
I really enjoyed the novel and voraciously ate up the tale in one sitting! It wasn’t that the characters were sports fan, though I do like sports. It was more watching the growing of Casey as she learns what is really important in life and how God makes Himself real to her when she needs Him most. Plus I enjoy the way the couples are written as examples of how to work out marital seasons as well as how much work marriage really takes and that sacrifice of self is a top priority.
I hope the author has something to offer again soon as I really enjoyed this work of art!
