Erin Jansen is considered a Web pioneer. As founder of NetLingo.com since 1994, one of the most popular Internet Dictionaries on the Web, Ms. Jansen manages and markets the award-winning publication. Ranked #676 in Google's Top 1000 Web Sites and voted two years in a row by PC Magazine as a "Top 100 Web Site," NetLingo has been reviewed in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, USA Today, People magazine, and many others. Recognized in December, 2009 as a "Top 25 Women in Tech to Watch" at the AlwaysOn Venture Summit in Silicon Valley, Ms. Jansen has worked in the Internet industry since 1994 providing an array of skills and services for online initiatives. In addition to being President of a publishing company, she is a consultant for a select group of companies in California. For the past 15 years, Erin has worked in the Internet industry with numerous businesses in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Seattle, and New York City, and she has consulted on Internet projects in England, France and Germany.
Erin is both technical and creative when it comes to the Internet. Her experience is broad; from building Web sites to working as an evangelist, Erin has a history of advocating new business models and products on the Web. Erin is a content management expert and has worked with venture capital funded start-ups based in Silicon Valley, including Alternative Health Journal and MyThings. She also worked at an advertising agency and served as team lead for the Microsoft account in Seattle. Prior to becoming a consultant for 5 years, Erin was the Content Manager at OfficeDepot.com where she developed an online magazine for the USA's largest office products retailer. Her work involved content acquisition and management, navigational layout, graphic design, and online marketing for the start-up division.
During 1997 she was an Online Crusader at CNET: The Computer Network. As one of three corporate consultants for CNET's clients, she became an expert in online advertising. Traveling across the nation to meet with marketing and advertising executives, Erin helped define the standards used today for online advertising goals, creative, placement and strategy. In doing so, she provided sales support for some of the Web's most popular sites, including CNET.com, News.com, Shareware.com, and Download.com. She served on the International Committee of the IAB and spoke at the Builder.com Conference.
Erin moved to Silicon Valley in 1995 to develop content and steer online marketing for CareerMosaic.com, a leading employment-search site. In 1994, she founded Non-Stop Internet Inc., a Web design agency in New York City that produced 20+ Web sites, including SoHoNYC.com, one of the Web's first community sites. Prior to that she was in sales and championed online marketing programs at Virtual Yellow Pages, one of the first indexed directories (early competitors of Yahoo!).
Prior to her Internet career, Erin worked in Direct Mail Marketing for Rock The Vote; she also provided cross-cultural workshops for American women living in foreign countries. She is from a successful, entrepreneurial family and grew up in the retail industry.
