6:00pm – 7:30pm. Langston Room. This program will feature a discussion of the themes in Robert Jensen’s last three books: Getting Off: Pornography and the End of Masculinity, South End Press, 2007. The Heart of Whiteness: Confronting Race, Racism and White Privilege, City Lights Books, 2005. Citizens of the Empire: The Struggle to Claim Our Humanity, City Lights Books, 2004. In these books, Jensen examines how nation, race, and gender affect our understanding of ourselves, with a focus on the unjust systems of power and privilege in which they are embedded.
