Wynter is a travel blogger who returns home to San Antonio when her aunt dies. At that time, her father informs her that he will no longer subsidize her travel - it's time for her to get a "real job" and work for the family business. Wynter refuses to give in to the pressure and walks out, planning her next steps. After the funeral, her aunt's will is read, and Wynter is stunned to discover that she has inherited most of her aunt's assets. Her five best friends also received bequests. This doesn't sit well with the rest of Wynter's family, who plan to contest the will.

Wynter receives emotional support from her best friends. Wynter's aunt referred to the five women and Wynter as her "gems." She also reconnects with her friend Shay's older brother, Riley. Wynter had a crush on him as a teenager and is surprised to discover that her crush has evolved into an intense attraction.

Riley is a successful lawyer who recently returned to San Antonio to take a position as a partner in a local law firm. He has a reputation as a player who doesn't do relationships. After seeing how his father's cheating and ultimate divorce from Riley's mother sent her into a depression, he doesn't believe in love. The things he sees as a divorce attorney reinforces his belief that love isn't real. When he meets Wynter again, he's stunned by his instant attraction to his little sister's best friend.

I loved how Riley was there to support Wynter when she needed him and that he was sensitive enough not to hit on her at that time. But when they had dinner together to talk about the will, the sparks between them practically set them on fire. They gave in to those sparks with the understanding that it was a one-time thing, but neither expected the impact it would have. Two months later, they ran into each other in Aspen and gave in again to the irresistible attraction.

I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Wynter and Riley develop. The time they spent together in Colorado gave them time to get to know each other and for their connection to deepen. There were some terrific scenes of them together. I especially liked how Wynter helped Riley with one of his potential clients. By the end of the week, they realize they don't want to end their affair and decide to continue after their return home.

I loved seeing them together, and it was easy to see that they belonged together. But Riley still resists the reality of love, which runs up against Wynter's growing feelings for him. I liked seeing Wynter stand up for her needs and give Riley something to consider. Riley's fears have a tight hold on him, and it takes straight talk from his sister and his unhappiness without Wynter to open his eyes and heart. His big moment was emotional and well done. The epilogue was an excellent lead-in to the next book.

I liked the women of the "Six Gems" and their tight friendship. Seeing them all support Wynter at her aunt's funeral and again after the will reading was lovely. I liked getting to know them all a little bit which whet my appetite to read the rest of the series.

Good book. This is the second in the series, but there was enough backstory given that I didn't feel lost. Egypt received an unexpected inheritance a year earlier and used that money to jump-start her dream of owning her own restaurant. Flame has been open for several months and is doing well. Relationships are on the back burner after a breakup caused Egypt to distrust all men and doubt her judgment. One night a man comes into the restaurant that changes everything.

Garrett is his family business's CEO and has a ruthless reputation. As the book opens, he's arguing with his father over a piece of property left to him by his grandfather. Garrett has fond memories of the farm and his time with his grandfather. His father wants him to sell it, and Garrett refuses. Frustrated with his dad, Garrett decides to visit the farm and review the books, hoping to revitalize it. On the way, he stops by a new restaurant recommended by a friend.

I loved the first meeting between Egypt and Garrett. The sparks between them are immediately apparent, but Egypt turns down Garrett's first request for a date. Not to be deterred, Garrett sticks around until closing and asks again, and Egypt gives in. But as Garrett leaves the restaurant, he is attacked and spends two months in a coma in the hospital. Egypt is undeniably drawn to him and visits every day. She's there when he wakes up, only to discover that he can only remember her!

I ached for Garrett and the confusion he felt. A vague memory of a farm and the muscle memory of a phone number puts him in touch with the foreman of the property. This is where things go a little off the rails. Kent tells Garrett he's an orphan, raised by his grandfather, and that the farm is in trouble. He goes there when he leaves the hospital, but something feels wrong. However, he puts his mind toward saving the farm, giving him something productive to do while waiting for his memory to return.

Meanwhile, Garrett doesn't back off of his fascination with Egypt. She is initially wary of getting involved with him, but he slowly wins her over. I enjoyed watching them spend time together. Garrett is very supportive of Egypt, and his attention goes a long way toward repairing the belief in herself that her previous boyfriend had damaged. Egypt is just as supportive of Garrett as he rebuilds the farm and his life. Some terrific scenes of them together show how right they are for each other.

But as Garrett experiences a few flashes of memory, he suspects his previous self was not a nice person. I could feel the tension mount as more things started coming together for him. Unfortunately, Garrett makes a boneheaded decision that comes back to bite him when it runs up against Egypt's trust issues. Both Garrett and Egypt must decide what is important before either can open their hearts to the future they want. I liked Egypt's big moment at the end and her emotional reunion with Garrett. I also loved the "new" Garrett and seeing him stand up to his father. The epilogue was terrific. Garrett was a sweetly romantic, and his surprise for Egypt was fabulous.

I enjoyed meeting the women that make up the Six Gems. I need to go back and read the first book, as Wynter's story sounds intriguing. The epilogue contained a lead-in to the next book, and I look forward to reading it.

There was a certain amount of suspension of disbelief needed when reading this book. For a man of his prominence, and his family's resources, how did Garrett go for two-plus months without someone figuring out who he was?

Good book. Everyone in the TCC heard Natalie's confession of her feelings for Jonathan when her online chat with her best friend accidentally went live at the club's Fourth of July bash. Since then, she's been avoiding him and everyone else as best she can. Finally, she decides to leave town for a while and let the gossip die down. She checks into a Galveston resort and looks forward to a week of peace.

Jonathan has been aware of Natalie's crush for years, but with a bad marriage and divorce under his belt, he has no intention of ever marrying again. He blames himself for the failure of his marriage, so he keeps his liaisons superficial and spends all of his time working on the family ranch. When his worried parents force him to take a vacation, Jonathan finds himself checking into the same resort where Natalie is staying.

I enjoyed seeing the relationship develop between Natalie and Jonathan. Natalie is a curvy woman who was bullied as a child because of her weight and still has self-esteem issues. When Jonathan looks at her, he sees a sexy woman he'd like to spend time with. Neither can deny the fiery attraction they feel. After one night together, Jonathan proposes a week-long fling to end when they return to Royal. Natalie agrees because she will take what she can get but suspects that her heart will pay the price.

Natalie was right. The more time they spent together, the deeper her feelings for Jonathan grew. Throughout the week, he made it clear that marriage would never be an option, but she couldn't help hoping he'd change his mind. Some scenes between them fueled that hope. Even though Jonathan often feels things with Natalie that he's never felt before, he suppresses those feelings, sure they wouldn't last. He stubbornly sticks to his "no marriage" mantra until Natalie finally believes him.

On their return to Royal, they attempt to return to their previous lives, but both are miserable. Resuming their affair in secret seems to be the only cure. Once again, Natalie risks her heart, but she can't stay away from the man she loves. Jonathan may be cracking under the onslaught of his feelings, but his fears continue to hold him back. When Jonathan's ex-wife confronts Natalie, it brings her fears to a head, and she pulls back. I loved seeing Jonathan finally see the light with the help of his brother Jayden. I loved his emotional reunion with Natalie, and his big moment at the end was a neat tribute to their beginning.

The Mitchell Brothers series book 1. Contemporary romance. Second chance.
Savannah and Caden had a relationship years ago that Caden thought was serious. But when Savannah disappeared without a goodbye or a reason why thrown his way, Caden moved on and into politics as he’d always planned. A surprise encounter puts Savannah and Caden back together there’s more to that backstory then he knew at the time. Can the two now get over the hurt and move forward together?

Angst, deception and secret baby with a disability make this story heavy and drama ridden though the intro with them young and in love was quite a way to be dropped into a story. Aka sexy beginning. Though successful now, Savannah let’s old insecurities rule while Caden needs a reality check. It’s not same ole anymore and he needs to make some changes. They eventually figure things out for their hea since this is a romance but it’s a bumpy ride.
