A typical Maira Kalman book. Lots of curiosity, twists and turns. Thoughtful, funny, profound. Lots of her art.

Maira Kalman and I should be friends. If I lived in Manhattan I'm certain she would invite me over for Sunday afternoon tea. I would wear a fabulous hat.

Charming, off-beat, and surprising—and that's just the writing. Add the paintings and, well, there you are: Perfection. That is, perfection in the way a just-right cup of tea goes with fresh homemade bread and butter. Nourishment for the soul.

Love love love this little book. The author's favorite things are not necessarily my favorite things, but her depictions and descriptions make me consider them more closely; ah, now I see. Her artwork is slapdash yet detailed, and more than anything it shows you the essence and essentials of the thing. I cried a little when I saw her needlework pieces that she made when her mother died.

A beautiful book that I received as a beautiful gift. You'd be pleasantly surprised at how the NYC wastewater treatment plant is rendered.
