
On Saturday, May 17 MainStreet BookEnds of Warner will host five leading authors reading stories to the children. In conjunction with Spring Into Warner, coordinated by the Kearsarge Area Chamber of Commerce W.A.R.N.E.R. Group, May 17 will be a full day of family-oriented arts and music and crafts, with authors reading in the park. At 10 am, Rebecca Rule, author of The Iciest, Diciest, Scariest Sled Ride Ever! and Headin’ for the Rhubarb will read to children in the adjacent Jim Mitchell Community Park. From 11 am to 1 pm children’s book authors and illustrators True Kelley and Lucinda McQueen will be on hand to read, and at 1pm David Elliott, author of bestsellers including On the Farm and And Here’s to You! will be reading from his favorite children’s book, The Secret Garden.
Scheduled to read at 2 pm will be Mary Lyn Ray, author of classics such as Stars, Pumpkins, and Mud, who will be introducing her latest children’s book, Deer Dancer. The day will be filled with activities for all, in downtown Warner from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday May 17; local artists will demonstrate and musicians will be performing, dance demonstrations, a crafts and activity tent, a “Touch A Truck” demonstration, horse-drawn carriage rides, yoga and zumba; many local “Along the River” museum exhibits such as an “Antique Tool” demonstration at the Warner Historical Society, the NH Telephone Museum, and the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum with hands-on kids activities and music; used book sales at the Warner Historical Society and the Jim Mitchell Community Park, a Farmer’s Market, and the Rollins State Park will be open that day for a hike up beautiful Mt. Kearsarge. In the evening there will be an auction to raise funds for lighting and sound for the MainStreet Warner Stage in the Jim Mitchell Park. Tickets for the Preview Party at 5:30 pm are $5, and available at MainStreet BookEnds. Preview Party Tickets also will be the Raffle Tickets to win this handcrafted table from Martin Bourque.
