I really liked this, even though I'm not a big fan of the romance genre in general. There was a decent plot, believable conflict and also likable characters. So if you're looking for romance, but didn't like the love hypothesis, maybe try this one? But then again, no guarantee, just try it. It's a quick read so not much time wasted.

This a fun summer beach read with all the necessities: light and easy read, page-turning, sexy and fun novel. This is part of a series which has similar characters but can be read as a stand-alone.

There is an interesting storyline aside from the lovelorn involving preserving the history of the town and its buildings. This story is the undercurrent which is carried through all the books providing the tie amongst the characters. For this reason I would recommend reading them in order.

The novel’s setting is the beach town of Avalon Bay in North Carolina where affluent people stay to escape for the summer from the chaos of their busy city lives. This story centers around Cassie Soul who is staying with her grandmother, Lydia Tanner, well-known owner of the Beacon Hotel. Mackenzie Cabot from Good Girl Complex will be renovating and restoring the hotel since bought it from Lydia. The hotel represents historical significance for the Tanner family which is the thread which strings the series together. Cassie, a college student, has been living in Boston with her mother and has come to Avalon Bay as her father is re-marrying in NC.

Cassie attends a party at Luke's house where she is introduced to the locals who live in Avalon Bay. After her parents divorce, her mother took her to live in Boston so she doesn't know her father or new step-sister very well. She decides that she will have a carefree summer as she celebrates her 21st birthday. It doesn't take long for her to find a "summer fling" when she overhears Tate Bartlett being dumped by his girlfriend. The sailing instructor is no stranger to flings but does not want to break Cassie's heart and decides she needs to stay in the friend zone. How long will he be able to keep his distance from the fun loving sweet Cassie. There are many events planned for this to be an eventful summer.

Thank you NetGalley and St Martin's Press for providing this digital book for review consideration. I have read this book and all opinions expressed are my own.

This the second book of the Avalon Bay series.
This a fun summer beach read with all the necessities: light and easy read, page-turning, sexy and fun novel. This is part of a series which has similar characters but can be read as a stand-alone.

The novel’s setting is the beach town of Avalon Bay in North Carolina where affluent people stay to escape for the summer from the chaos of their busy city lives. In book 1, we met Cooper and Mackenzie and this novel focuses on Cooper’s twin brother, Evan Hartley.

Genevieve West returns to Avalon Bay after her mother dies from pancreatic cancer. She agrees to help her father runs the business until he can find someone to fill in. Because she had a reputation as a wild child growing up she attempts to prove that she is no longer that same careless teen. In her efforts to avoid her irresistible ex-boyfriend, Evan Hartley, Gen dates police officer, Harrison. Genevieve soon finds that Evan might not be the careless person she remembered and misses the friendship they had as kids when his father died. Cooper Hartley and Mackenzie Cabot from book 1 make an appearance. Will Gen be able to date Harrison and avoid temptation from her old friend, Trina back in her drinking and partying days?

This a fun summer beach read with all the necessities: light and easy read, page-turning, sexy and fun novel. This is part of a series which has similar characters but can be read as a stand-alone.

The novel’s setting is the beach town of Avalon Bay in North Carolina where affluent people stay to escape for the summer from the chaos of their busy city lives.

The book is narrated by two of the protagonists Cooper Hartley and Mackenzie Cabot. Cooper has a twin brother Evan who also enjoys the summers with the influx of visitors including wealthy students from Garnet. The Hartley twins are infamous for their flirty good looks and hasty hook ups with the visiting tourists.

Cooper works as a bartender at the Riptide a popular bar. Also, a place where wealthy students get sloppy and drunk wielding their influence around. Cooper gets fired one night after a fight with a customer of a wealthy kid. Preston is a pretentious jealous boyfriend of Mackenzie Cabot. They met at the same prep school Spencer Hill and attended the same country club.

Mackenzie soon becomes bored with the pretentious attitude of Preston especially after she catches the attention of Cooper. She doesn’t realize that he is seeking revenge on Cooper for getting him fired by stealing his girlfriend. Of course, this lends itself to chaos when Mackenzie discovers the truth.

There is an interesting storyline aside from the love lorn involving preserving the history of the town and its buildings. This story is the undercurrent which is carried through to the following books providing the tie amongst the characters.
