- Dan preached his first sermon while in college in 1967. He assumed full time responsibilities in working with a local congregation in Millington, TN in 1971. He has preached almost every Sunday since those early days as God has granted him good health and favorable circumstances to do so. His evangelistic work has taken him to most of the states of the US, and a number of foreign countries. Local work has been done in Illinois and Florida, but mostly in the state of Tennessee.
He has written extensively in many religious journals, both popular as well as professional. Dan attended Wayne State University, David Lipscomb College (B.A.), Harding Graduate School of Religion (M.A.), and Vanderbilt University (Ph.D.). He served as an adjunct professor at Tennessee State University in 1976 and at Florida College during 1984-88.
He has authored several tracts and a number of books: Hebrew and Hellenistic Thought in the Book of Wisdom, We Have a Right (with Mike Willis), Responsibility and Authority in the Spiritual Realm (with Leon Boyd), At the Feet of the Master Teacher, Commentary on the Gospel of John, Commentary on the Epistles of John, Commentary on the Book of Hebrews, Commentary on Daniel, Commentary on James, “I Saw the Heaven Opened”: A Commentary on Revelation, The Days of Creation, Searching for Happiness?, and Daniel, Ezekiel, Song of Solomon, Hebrews and Revelation in the Bible Text Book series. Currently he is engaged in writing a book on the existence of God.

King argues his premises well: the book coming out of Alexandrian Egypt around the first century BCE, written by a Jewish author using excellent technique to persuade his fellow Jews to hold firm to the covenant and worldview of Judaism in the face of Hellenistic influence while being subtly influenced by many of the aspects of Hellenistic thinking himself.
King does well at showing the progression of development in the perspective on Wisdom from Job, Proverbs, Sirach, and then Pseudo-Solomon and the progressive personification to hypostatization of Wisdom over time. He does well at showing the points of connection between apocalyptic literature and Pseudo-Solomon and also the important role of sacred history in Israelite theology and outlook and its role in Wisdom of Solomon.
A well-researched and presented treatise, valuable for those interested in greater understanding of the sitz im leben and purpose of Wisdom of Solomon.… (more)
