This photo book captures Cechy at the end (or beginning) of an era, published in the early '90s as perhaps the first souvenir one could buy in the new republic. Many of the photos are lovely, but just as importantly they are part of the landscape of memory, Cechy-as-it-was. I saw this book on so many coffee tables in so many homes, I can't think of it without nostalgia for all of those communities. My father found me a signed copy from 1996 for Christmas this year, and I got lost in it immediately... so I guess it's time to get a coffee table.… (more)
