Short biography: Shari Lapena (born 1960) is a Canadian novelist. She is best known for her 2016 thriller novel The Couple Next Door, which was a bestseller both in Canada and internationally.

Lapena, a lawyer and English teacher before beginning her writing career, published her debut novel Things Go Flying in 2008. That novel was a shortlisted Sunburst Award finalist in 2009. Her second novel, Happiness Economics, was a shortlisted Stephen Leacock Award finalist in 2012.

Her fourth novel, A Stranger in the House, was published in 2017.

SHARI LAPENA is the internationally bestselling author of The Couple Next Door, A Stranger in the House, An Unwanted Guest, Someone We Know and The End of Her. She lives in Toronto.

Great mystery overall with strong Agatha Christie vibes, but the “reveal” left a lot to be desired.

The End of Her by Shari Lapena

Definitely my least favorite of Shari Lapena’s works. Too many of the characters were so unlikeable and couldn’t be trusted to the point of being frustrating. I’ll say I’m happy certain characters got what they deserved but overall it was a bit predictable.

Everyone Here Is Lying: A Novel by Shari Lapena

First I will say, I love the cover. I love treehouses, and the colours of the background, gorgeous! That being said, it's an odd choice for a cover, since the treehouse barely plays a part in the story at all. Wouldn't a motel with a dumpster near it have been more appropriate?

Anyway! I enjoyed this story. It was an interesting complex web of lies, betrayals and relationships. The first 70% of the book felt a little slow to me. It was mostly "what if this" and "what if that". There were also some minor plot holes and things that were unrealistic, but they can be easily overlooked for the sake of the story.
