1460 Rosmini: Priest, Philosopher, and Patriot, by Claude Leetham (read 10 Aug 1977) Antonio Rosmini-Serbati was born at Rovereto, Italy, on Mar 24, 1797, ordained Apr. 21, 1821, at Chioggia, founded the Institutes of Charity in 1828, and died July 1, 1855. He was in Rome in 1848 at the time of Rossi's assassination and accompanied Pope Pius IX to Gaeta. This book is in the laudatory style, and is not completely chronological, but it had its moments. Father Gentili--big in the Second Spring in England (I think he received the future Cardinal Newman into the Church)--was a member of the Institute of Charity. The 1975 Catholic Almanac shows the Rosminians have a US headquarters at Peoria, IL. In 1975 there were 434 Rosminians, of whom 313 were priests. [His cause for beatification was approved by Pope Benedict XVI in June 2007,] For more on Father Rosmini, see: Antonio Rosmini-Serbati - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia… (more)
