Delicious book even for a non-quilter. Beautiful examples of her work plus very useful chapters on colour and design principles
Quilted Symphony is just that! A symphony of shapes, color, and design that is sure to get the creative juices flowing. Gloria Loughman shows us how to take everyday items, look at the shapes, and translate them into beautiful quilt compositions. I recommend this book for any quilter who is ready to explore outside of the box.
This book is chock full of eye candy. There are gorgeous photos of the author's native Australia as well as of many of her award winning quilts. I especially loved the photos of the trees and fauna that are native to Australia. They are vastly different from what we see in the U.S. It makes me want to travel there and see them for myself. The book is just under 100 pges and is divided into several sections on color theory, photograph/design selection, painting fabrics, stitching techniques, construction techniques, and a few elements such as trees. Anyone interested in creating advanced quilted landscapes will benefit from the book.… (more)
