I think I've read enough F/F romances in the past two weeks during my anti-"Christmas Prince" (and other holiday movies)-being-super-straight binge that I can say this one is pretty well-written, if typical - one potential partner is rich; one is not rich but has dreams; one has a lot of anxiety, and the other helps quell her anxiety; etc. It was a fun zip through a cruise on the Danube, with stops in Bratislava and Vienna and Prague (by bus!), for instance, and a nice exploration of some of the options in and out of the cities. A fun, touching screwball romantic comedy

This story is WONDERFUL! It is a tangled, yet impeccably crafted artwork. Like an intricate and alluring pattern of multicolored threads that seem like some sort of abstract art, then you turn the cloth over to see a GORGEOUS little picture of a sailboat going past a picturesque cottage with a happy couple and their children.

From a framework of mistaken identities and desperate lies, Ms. MacLeod constructs a comedy of errors with plenty of laughs, but also some tears and lots and lots of pleasant sighs. Her characters are delightfully flawed and vulnerable, yet also sweet and worth rooting for.

And, to be perfectly honest, it earned the highest "visceral praise" I know of. At the end of the story, I cried. Not because of the sweet, satisfying "love beats the odds" ending, but because I will miss being a part of Jamie and Claire's life. Instead of feeling like the end of the story, it's like I've lost touch of old friends and won't see them again. That's how I know an author did their job right. Bravo!

Fantastic story, can't wait for more

The broken and lonely characters in this story are extremely well crafted. The shifting narrative, from present to past and between Cici and Rorie, is well planned, giving just enough information at each step to let the reader see how the lives of these two people fell apart, but not giving away everything, holding just enough in reserve to keep you wanting more. Like, perhaps, two more books worth. (But I don't want to see them sad anymore...)… (more)
