I have been on a huge Love Inspired kick lately and have been loving these sweet, little escapes. Though A Family for the Orphans starts out on such a bittersweet note it captured my heart and tugged on my heartstrings.

Walker is suddenly a guardian to three little cherubs after his best friends tragically die in a car accident. Another friend, Trisha, is to help co-parent the children, but her job has kept her away from Texas until this summer. Walking by faith and not by sight is easier said than done as we see Walker and Trisha upend their lives to make the dreams of their departed friends come true for their three surviving children by purchasing a horse farm that is barely staying in the red. Now they have to figure out the next step and what is best for the children as they try to keep the farm afloat.

Though it was a sweet read, there wasn’t really anything that made this novel truly special. The kids were super cute and the characters likable, but there wasn’t really anything that sets this novel apart for any other sweet romance. The whole time I was reading I was wishing for something that never came, though there was a tiny little suspenseful part that broke up the story nicely, but I still wished there was more.

For me, what made this novel was the children themselves. Poor Sophia, the oldest of the orphans, is struggling more than the other two and I loved seeing Walker and Trisha comfort her and help all three children cope during such a tough time. A precious touch that I can’t help but admire is how the kids call Walker ‘Walker’ and Trisha ‘Tish.’ Nicknames are huge in my household and overtime I saw the dialogue it brought a smile to my face.

Overall, though nothing too special, this is still a very sweet story that is a quick read and a nice escape.

Oh, my! Author Heidi Main shares a story that tugged at my heartstrings and left me grabbing my tissues! Tears for the sadness and grief of the three small children who had lost their parents, and a hurting heart for the two adults who became their guardians. Would Walker's feelings of guilt and Trisha's insecurities stand in the way? Could they keep the promise they'd made to their late friends?

I love the characters, the setting, and the inspirational message that's woven into the poignant plot of A Family for the Orphans. I recommend this story of forgiveness, faith, and second chances to all who enjoy Christian romance.

I received a complimentary copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my thoughts.

A Family for the Orphans is a sweet inspirational story about three children who lost their parents. Walker McCaw and Trisha Campbell were appointed as co-guardians to the children, and they decided to follow through with the purchase of a horse farm the parents were going to buy. Together, they were working to make it profitable enough to keep. I enjoyed the small-town setting and the way the neighbors helped each other out when needed. The children were adorable, and even though the premise was a little predictable and parts were a bit repetitive, there were enough twists to liven it up. This is a clean and wholesome, easy-to-read inspirational book.

Of course you are willing to be the guardian if something should happen to your best friends, because nothing will happen, or will it? Left behind when their parents are killed in an accident, Sophie, Tommy and Gabby are counting on Walker and Trisha to keep their world from falling apart. Walker carries a great deal of unnecessary guilt that he needs to forgive himself for. Trisha is convinced that she is not worthy enough, not even to God.

This lovely story takes 5 broken people and attempts to make a family out of them. Will it work? You’ll have to read it to find out.

An early copy was received through Love Inspired and BookFunnel. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.
