Even though the programs in this book had to be entered manually via the keyboard, the listings were short (none longer than 30 lines of code). Although tiny, these programs helped the user trace the path of a character from the keyboard to memory, to disk, and to the screen or printer.

The book was written to prepare the readers for more advanced topics, such as, machine language programming and arcade graphics.

The author listed and explained such programs as PEEKDEMO, POKEDEMO, SHOWALL, HOTBAN, SNOOP, INVIS, VARLOOK1, VARWHERE, and SNOOFILE.

This book was written in the early days of Microsoft BASIC and MS-DOS.
