Please join us at Shaman Drum Bookshop for a very special evening as we say goodbye to the community we have served for the last 29 years. We will be holding our final store event with three poets very near and dear to our hearts; Keith Taylor, Raymond McDaniel and Angel Nafis. All three worked at Shaman Drum for many years and we are honored to close our long-running reading series with their amazing work. Karl Pohrt will also be on hand to share a piece he has written along with some final words. Laughter, tears, food and drink - we hope you'll come and be merry with us. Keith Taylor is the author of numerous books, including If the World Becoms So Bright and a co-translation of Battered Guitars: The Poetry and Prose of Kostas Karyotakis. He is coordinator of undergraduate creative writing at the University of Michigan and director of the Bear River Writers Conference. Keith worked at Shaman Drum from 1989-1999. Raymond McDaniel is the author of the National Poetry Series award-winning collection Murder (a violet) and Saltwater Empire. A native of Florida, McDaniel now lives in Ann Arbor, writes for The Constant Critic, teaches at U of M, and hosted the reading series at Shaman Drum. Ray has worked at Shaman Drum since 1997. Angel Nafis is a member of the Ann Arbor collegiate poetry spoken word troupe "Word Works", she has been the poet in residence for the VOLUME youth poetry project, published in poetry anthologies Decibels and Un-squared, and has made a recent appearance in Requiem for a Paper Bag: Celebrities and Civilians Tell Stories of the Best Lost, Tossed, and Found Items from Around the World a Found Anthology . Angel has worked at Shaman Drum since 2006. (PhoenixTerran)
