Bees! Raised in hives on a rooftop in town! Who knew? We learn about the work bees do and why we need them while also learning that all bees are not raised in meadows or very large backyards.
The illustrations by Rosalind Beardshaw are delightful, imaginative, clear, and colorful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, and even to a school or teacher or your public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Charlesbridge via NetGalley. Thank you!… (more)

I love the Lola series from Anna McQuinn. Lola is a great model for kids for how to inquire into their interests and take care of animals, plants, and even humans! Lola Gets a Cat is all about Lola wanting a cat, learning about cats- including how to take care of them. This book teaches the importance of caring for others and responsiblity. Plus, it's about cats!

First sentence: Phew! The sun is hot, hot, hot! Leo and Mommy are going to the park. Yay! Wave, Leo! Yu is here in the shade.

Premise/plot: Leo and Yu are having a play date at the park.

My thoughts: This one is set in the summer (presumably). Leo and his friend have a good time playing at the park. The text is simple. The illustrations are joyful and bright.
