Ok, a few of my friends mentioned that they really didn't like this book as much as many of Meagher's other books so my expectations were pretty low. I've read nearly all of the author's stand alone books and the first three of the Ryan and Jamie series (online versions of those) and I liked Smooth Sailing better than at least two of her other published novels.

It wasn't earth shattering, but I don't think it was meant to be. I recognized my wife in the Laurie character - workaholic, constantly busy, not happy without high-speed internet - and so I was able to relate to some of her issues that may have seemed like crap to someone else. I also have many of the same traits as Kaatje, although none of her physical ones. I love to relax but work hard when I need to.

Anyway, Meagher is one of my favorite authors. I didn't think she spent as much time on details as in some of her other books and that was GREAT! The story felt good to me. So there.

Still keeping it at 3 stars after finishing the re-read of the published version.

Enjoyed this one quite a bit. Lots of time for the relationship to build, plenty of interesting scenes dealing with the life of a chef, and good chemistry between the leads. Pretty happy about this book. There was some of the non-communication issues that we see in romance novels but it didn't last too long so I don't feel bad about it.

I think anyone who's enjoyed a SXM book before will definitely like this one.

I love when I can't keep the smile off my face at the end of a book. This is a damn near perfect romance for me: slow burn, lots of time to get to know the characters - and for them to get to know each other, and plenty of chemistry.

While plenty was different in this book, the feel of it reminded me of [b:All That Matters|2074153|All That Matters|Susan X. I honestly had a very tough time putting it down. Which is saying a lot, really, since the past few months have been filled with more books that I've quit than I've finished. But there was no way I could drop this one.

If you're already a fan of SXM, you'll very likely fall in love with this book. If you haven't tried the author yet, now's a good time.

**After reading it for a second time in preparation for the upcoming Cocktail Hour show, I feel pretty much the same as I did during my first read. **
