Common Knowledge

This is light reading. The conflict presented is also interesting and revolves around the world of ice skating. There are some scenes that piss you off because they remind you of your teenage years (if you read them like I was growing up. Haha) and about friendship.

I like Claire's character who was previously like a naive girl and couldn't voice what she wanted, her character has grown to be more courageous and can determine what her dreams are. She finally learned something from the competitions. Claire found what she wanted after going through a process that made her anxious and frustrated. It was precisely because of that process that she found the answer she had been looking for all along.

This book is interesting to read in winter with a glass of milk tea that accompanies you.

I love all of the installments of Messner's Over and Under series. Since I have hiked in deserts and canyons, I appreciate a picture book that will transport young readers to this ecosystem if they are unable to visit it themselves. Story of the mother and son hiking through the canyon is a wonderful way to introduce readers to the animals. The hikers are rewarded at the end of the hike with a valley full of desert wildflowers and dinner cooked by dad back at their campsite.

And you weren't acting like a president anyway. Presidents work hard and listen. They care about everyone's ideas." In the end, Fergus and Zeke's president project shows which pets each president had. Meanwhile, the students' projects - and their questions during the process - are creative and thoughtful as well. A great addition to the Fergus & Zeke series.… (more)
