I know the story of King David from the bible (being raised Catholic it was part of my childhood to study the bible). This book is absolutely an amazing retelling of the story, from a different point of view - from an irreverent scribe recording in his own words what David tells him. I was nervous about reading this, I won't lie. But this totally blew my expectations out of the water. It's very well written, engaging, and intriguing. A side to the bible that you won't find in any official capacity, this makes David seem more real.
