Short biography
Undergraduate studies at Eötvös College and in the US at Rollins College. In 1935 he earned a Ph.D. In 1937 he became an Eötvös College teacher, university lecturer from 1942 at the faculty of arts in Budapest, and from 1947 until 1950 and from 1957 until 1969 professor of English language and literature at the Kossuth Lajos University in Debrecen.

He was editor in chief of the Hungarian language interpreter dictionary (1950-1962). His home was a key forum for English Studies. He is considered the father of American Studies in Hungary.
