- Augusta Peaux was born in Simonshaven, The Netherlands, to a family of French descent, and lived a secluded life. Her poetry collections included Poems (1918) and New Poems (1926). Some of her work, including Lonely Cemetery, are included in anthologies, but otherwise has received little attention.
