The author wrote this book of his WWII experiences in 1992 after finding in their attic a box of 336 letters he had written to his parents. The letters composed when the author was in his early twenties display wit and intelligence. Originally trained with the 88th Infantry Division, he was able after testing to transfer to the Air Force where he was comissioned as a navigator. Shot down over Austria, Lt. Perry spent three months in a German prison camp. Amusing exchanges with his mother when he "thanks" her for her sermons on Friends and How to Resist Temptation. He tells her when he meets some temptation he'll know what to do--only there is little to tempt him on his base in Oklahoma. Another addition to the tales from WWII.… (more)
