Il a pratiqué d'abord avec les enseignants formés par Taisen Deshimaru mais a été déçu par ceux-ci, en particulier en ce qui concerne leur rapport à la douleur provoquée par la posture considérée systématiquement comme une émanation de l'ego. Il a cherché ailleurs et a découvert l'enseignement de Nishijima. Il a reçu en 2003 de Gudo Nishijima Roshi la mission de transmettre ses enseignements.
