Alma M. Reed

It was a captivating read; though partially a biography of Felipe Carrillo Puerto and autobiography of Alma Reed, it was primarily history of the brief period when they were acquainted. It was love at first sight, though they didn't let each other know. Felipe was the Governor of Yucatan and a huge supporter fighting for the rights of the Maya. Alma was a reporter for the Washington Post and NY Times and accompanied a group of archaeologist to Mexico in about 1922. Now I want to find the song written in honor of Alma, La Peregrina, which means the pilgrim, in Spanish.… (more)
