I love the format of these books - it's a diary entry/illustrated/list style of writing that really makes me feel like I'm inside the extremely bizarre mind of Emily Strange. This falls into the unusual mystery category of The Mysterious Benedict Society and Kiki Strike, and I really enjoy all of them.

Much better than the second one! What a relief. Too bad I had to read it at top-speed because some anxious 13-year-olds were breathing down my neck so that they could get to it :)

I'll have to re-read it at some point to more thoroughly enjoy the illustrations and appendices.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one was a bit of a letdown. I found it very boring at the beginning - it took forever for anything at all to happen. When the mystery finally got going, I was intrigued, but then the whole thing fell a bit flat again. Bummer. Still, I like the illustrations and the diary format. Maybe the third one will be better.
