Very good introduction to modern day Brazil. It includes a history of the Portuguese arrival in the early 1500, slavery, economics, dictatorships, soccer, culture, carnival, political corruption, and Brazil's modern day desire to be respected by the developed world. The 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games will provide the opportunity for Brazil to shine on the world stage. Highly recommended as an introduction to a fascinating country.

I read this book because I went there for work. Wouldn't read it otherwise. You can find most of this information online.
