Short biography
Emma Watkins, born in the Welsh marches area, married David Manners, future 11th Duke of Rutland, in 1992. The couple have five children. She has been deeply involved in the restoration and upkeep of his historic ancestral home, Belvoir Castle in northern Leicestershire, which is open to the public. The Duchess published a book about Belvoir and her family's life there in 2010. She also has been the host of a television documentary, The Diary of a Duchess, and of the series Castles, Keeps, and Country Homes as an advocate of country life and farming. She also wrote a book on shooting, and has her own furniture line, based on Belvoir originals, named after family members and called The Duchess Collection. Today she is separated from her husband, and they live in separate wings of the great house.
