A fire has broken out in the African plains and there's great panic among the animals. Desperately they run for safety. In all the mayhem, the little fox loses sight of his best friend, the rhino. After things have calmed down a bit, he decides, to go looking for him.
He describes his friend as best he can to the animals he meets on his way and they all try their best to help, but the search for Mr. Rhino turns out much more tricky, than the fox expected it to be. Will the two be reunited? Will the fox find his friend?
The Rhino that I Know is actually a really lovely picture book about true friendship and looking out for each other. The rhyming story is cheerful, as the way the cute fox describes his friend is quite funny (chunky with greyish skin or he's tough with a massive rear). Beautiful watercolour style illustrations with lions and elephants and hippos enhance the story perfectly. (Look out for the wee frogs which are hidden in the pictures. My preschoolers had a lot of fun finding them.) My favourite is the last page, it's splendid and it put a big smile on my face. Highly recommended.… (more)
